INFORMATION:

Silk forms a big part of tibetan decor. Although most comes from trade with China, silk manufacture was known in Tibet from at least the fifteenth century.

Silk is used for both spiritual and secular purposes and fine silks were accorded high esteem.

The use of vivid colours and lots of them, particularly the primary colours is typical of tibetan decor and the style of wall hangings arises from the temples, where narrow hangings were styled to cover the numerous pillars.

The lucky symbol designed cushion covers are made from silk by a tibetan entreprenuer in Delhi India - last of the designs featured.
