INFORMATION:
A singing bowl is a musical instrument used in Buddhist meditation.
Its custom dates back many centuries. Singing bowls are played by hitting, striking or slowly stirring a wooden striker on the outer rim of the bowl. When done correctly, the bowl will produce a continuous harmonic sound, said to be relaxing and good for the chakra. Traditionally bowls are said to be made from seven metals and can be tuned specifically to one of the seven energy centres or chakras in our bodies.
Singing bowls are most traditionally played in Tibet, Nepal, India, China, Japan, and Korea, usually by Buddhist monks and in monasteries. |
