INFORMATION:
Silk brocade forms a big part of tibetan decor. Although most comes from trade with China, silk manufacture was known in Tibet from at least the fifteenth century.
Silk is used for both spiritual and secular purposes and fine silks were accorded high esteem. The use of vivid colours and lots of them, particularly the primary colours is typical of tibetan decor and the style of wall hangings arises from the temples, where narrow hangings were styled to cover the numerous pillars.
As well as traditional tibetan hangings, we have also a range of cotton bedsheets/ throws from India for you to peruse, notably the Tree of Life designs and our lovely Angel of Peace.
